Everyone loves a discount. In fact many people will make the decision to make a purchase if they are offered a discount. Discounts apply to disability income policies, too, and it’s an excellent way to encourage clients to purchase a DI policy. Premium discounts from 5-20 percent are available, depending on the type of discount and the carrier.
Below is a list of discounts available on disability income policies. Not all discounts are available with all carriers, but working with Source Brokerage, Inc., our disability income specialists can help you determine what discounts might be available for your clients.
Association Discount. Brokers who develop a relationship with a specific professional association (attorneys, computer professionals, etc.) can set up an association discount with that organization and provide the membership a discount on their disability income policies.
Multi-Life Discount. Most carriers provide a discount when thee or more disability income policies are sold to individuals employed in the same organization.
Business Owner Discount. Business owners who have been in operation for two or more years and show a profit may also qualify for a discount.
Multi-Product Discount. Business owners are idea candidates for this discount because they qualify for several business owner disability products, including business overhead protection and buy/sell protection, in addition to an individual disability income policy.
Preferred Producer Multi-Life Discount. Standard Insurance offers a 10 percent multi-life premium discount to producers who have placed Standard’s individual disability policies for five or more unique individuals in a calendar year. Producers must re-qualify each year to maintain their Preferred Producer status.
